BECOMING PART OF A CHURCH COMMUNITY

HELPING ONE ANOTHER

Care & Support

Helping one another (and others!) is a big part of what we do at Community of Faith UCC. We are pleased to offer care to members and friends that seeks to meet a variety of needs. Should you find yourself in need of some care please reach out. Any staff person can help. We are glad to offer companionship and hope in a time of need.

Care Team

  • We meet once a quarter after worship.
  • We visit members and friends who can't attend church, reminding them they are loved by their church family.
  • We are intentional about sending cards and engaging in other acts of kindness.
  • Some of us are "Eucharistic Ministers." We take communion to people's homes and celebrate the sacrament with them and serve the congregation in worship on Communion Sunday's.
  • We respond to special needs in the event of illness or accident (like delivering a meal, occasional transportation, etc.).

Dream Team

  • Some of us are teachers; most of us aren't - but we love kids! We have so much fun with our children!  We coordinate Sunday school teachers and curriculum, develop fun activities for our youngest members - all with the intent to help them learn about and experience the love and joy of Jesus Christ.
  • We take advantage of special opportunities - like Vacation Bible School, summer camps, etc. - to afford our children as many opportunities for faith formation as possible.
  • We coordinate with the minister to provide special bible studies or discussion groups for adults on a regular basis.

Mission and Outreach Team

  • We meet the 3rd Sunday of each month following the worship service.
  • We coordinate special events (which are usually a whole lot of fun!) to raise money for special ministries in our community and for our church's wider mission.
  • We regularly support our local food banks, clothing drives, and special needs of children and families.

Church Family Life Team

  • We plan fun social events for our entire church family, including movie nights, game nights, seasonal parties, picnics, etc. Almost everything involves food and snacks! We also lend a hand for large fundraising dinners and other projects.
  • We coordinate the after worship Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings.
  • We work hard to enhance the "welcoming feel" of our church, but (honestly) it is not hard work at all!

Worship & Music Team

  • Meeting monthly, we work with the Pastor, Director of Music, and other staff to create worship experiences that enrich the spiritual well being of our church.
  • The Altar Guild is a subgroup of the team that focuses on adorning the physical spaces in which we worship to align with liturgical themes.
  • We prepare and serve the Sacrament of Communion under the direction of the Pastor.
  • We support the music ministries of the church through collaboration with the Director of Music.
  • We organize volunteers for greeter, ushers, and liturgists.

Building & Grounds/Green Team

  • We meet on Thursday mornings at 9:00 am to focus on all aspects of the "physical" church, maintaining our building and property. We are problem solvers for sure!  We, also, have a cup of coffee and eat a snack before we begin a project. It's a very serious part of the problem-solving process.
  • We focus on creating environmentally friendly and responsible habits as good stewards of our corner of God's world.

We also organize several outings for our church women just for fun! These activities are open to any women who want to come along.

Christmas and Easter Sausage Sales and Cabbage Roll Sales

We continue our heritage and traditions with the making and sale of sausage for the Christmas and Easter seasons as well as cabbage rolls.

The men and women of the church join in these events for the fellowship, community and as a fund raising activity for the church.

Not familiar with or never made these before, there will always be people there to guide and instruct.
